It’s disappointing that a 2011 game running on current-gen consoles can’t hit that magic 60fps number, but the current build we got to see at least looks stable. Mainly, despite the additional power of the current-gen consoles, this remaster is only going to run at 30 frames-per-second. Based on what was shown, it’s an impressive effort.Īs good as Saints Row: The Third Remastered is looking so far, there are a handful of disappointments. Sperasoft’s goal for the remaster was to take how the characters looked in the CG and marketing trailers from 2011 and find a way to make them come to life in the remaster. All primary NPCs have been remade from scratch utilizing high-poly models and high-quality, physically-based rendered materials. Completely reworked visual effects make creating traffic pileups followed by a massive explosion a treat for the eyes.Ī Saints Row game isn’t complete without your homies and they’re looking better than ever. Meanwhile, increased traffic and pedestrian density allow for more creative destruction. New high-resolution textures replace every model in the game. The enhanced power of the current consoles also lends itself to additional details. The original game may have had a night and day cycle, but it pales in comparison to what’s going on in the remaster. Then, at night, the city’s lights shine brightly in the darkness. The sun burns vibrantly during the day before turning orange in the evening. In terms of lighting, the game employs current-gen techniques like physics-based rendering, global illumination, ambient occlusion and screen space reflections to turn Steelport into a living, breathing city. The developer aims to deliver a richer experience through new lighting, textures and character models. Over 4000 assets were updated to modernize the graphics and enhance the art direction. Every weapon, car and a vast proportion of Steelport has been reworked. There’s almost nothing in the game Sperasoft hasn’t touched. On today’s consoles, Saints Row: The Third Remastered has a lot more power to play around with and developer Sperasoft intends on taking advantage of it. The framerate would frequently plummet, the low resolution made distant objects blurry and the world lacked detail. Released towards the tail-end of the PS3 and Xbox 360’s lifecycle, Saints Row: The Third suffered under the constraints of the aged hardware. The real story behind the remaster, however, is the visual overhaul. Though we’re still not sure if the package includes Whored Mode or split-screen co-op (online co-op does return), this is nearly a complete package so far. The full game is here along with all three expansion packs and more than thirty pieces of DLC. It’s a remastered version of the third entry in the Saints Row franchise for PS4, Xbox One and PC. Saints Row: The Third Remastered is exactly what it sounds like. We got a chance to look at an early version of the remaster to see how Deep Silver is bringing this classic to current-gen consoles. Thankfully, Saints Row: The Third Remastered is coming and it’s shaping up to be just what we need today. In this current day and age, we could all do with some humor and levity. Today, the Saints Row franchise is sorely missed with it being a few years since the last release. With a wonderful sense of humor, excellent set pieces and decent gameplay, Saints Row: The Third made a considerable splash critically and commercially. Though it took a while for the series to find its groove, it was the third entry, Saints Row: The Third, when everything came together. The Saints Row franchise was a colorful, humorous light in a sea of seriousness last-generation. This is stepping us back over ten years, which is how long it’s been since I used the Topical Guide to find a scripture. Now search only shows results for hymns, topical guide, and bible dictionary, or it shows results for articles not downloaded yet, but it shows NO RESULTS for scriptures. I have come to rely on the power of this app to find all references to a keyword in every downloaded document on my device. Search has either been severely hampered, or it’s broken. I can’t be the only person confused by this change. I find this change in search behavior more complicated and less intuitive than before because the new contextual shortcuts appear to be search results. The release notes don’t even address this change in behavior. Changing app behavior like this is incredibly confusing. This pop up info is what has been introduced with this version. Experience the faith and strength you can find in the scriptures Scripture Stories combines beautiful artwork, abridged accounts from the scriptures, and. However, if you tap on return, the true search completes. Gospel for Kids is a gospel learning app for children that brings together illustrated scripture stories, coloring books, sing-along songs, and more Scripture Stories. When you type a search keyword, the results that pop up are as I stated: hymns, topical guide, and dictionary. I’ll leave my original review as it stands. That or let those who want revert back to the old way or at least have that option. Gospel Library is the gospel study app of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day. I look forward to an improvement in the next version. Download latest version of Gospel Library apk for pc or android 2021. All I know is that my study was more rewarding and spiritually focused in the last version. Why can’t we have the best of all worlds, more info, pleasing aesthetics, pleasing font and for heavens sake some margins. It makes me want to read only the footnotes. The irony is when you pull up the footnotes they are in the old font and size while the main text is in the new aesthetically challenged font. You have to repeat the process every time you advance a chapter. Yes you can manually change the size of the text in tools but that only works for that one chapter. Yes it provides more content on one page but that content is too small and difficult to use. Now the text is small and harsh and goes to the far extreme of both sides of the screen (where are the margins?). It was pleasing to the eyes and made for not only a great tool but also a pleasing experience. The last font, spacing and layout was very well done from an aesthetic point of view. The thing I liked best about using this app to study over my hard copy of the scriptures was the experience I had when scrolling through the text. (The buoyant, genre-spanning score was also conceived by a “music factory” of five Toronto artists.) The eight-episode season is wonderfully confident the writing is lean and sharply drawn, and scenes aren’t wasted with exposition or explanation. If there is a representational trap for shows by non-white, gender non-conforming people to pander to those who would dismiss them outright, Sort Of sets its own rhythms. And what both Sabi the character and Sort Of the show insists upon is doing so on their own terms. The demand from outsiders upon seeing someone like Sabi is this: Explain yourself. Sabi, on the phone with Paul, tells him to “white-savior it,” and the principal relents. Violet, in the key of adolescent brat, pretends not to know them. In a tightly written scene, they go to the school to pick up Violet, who’s been suspended for pushing a fellow classmate “in the vaginal region.” A finicky principal is reluctant to allow Sabi to take her home, even though he’s checked their ID and their name is on the list of emergency contacts. He gets abrasive and possessive meanwhile, Sabi must do their job while brown and nonbinary. Sabi and Paul form an uneasy family: Sabi is great with the kids Violet (Kaya Kanashiro), 13, and Henry (Aden Bedard), 10, a dynamic Paul finds threatening as he realizes just how little he knows about his own family. “Acknowledge that.”īut they stay, a choice that appears, at first, like inertia - their friends worry they’re allowing life to happen to them. “Some things are just too big to be choices,” she says. Sabi’s sister Aqsa (Supinder Wraich) wants them to go abroad. But when the mother of the kids, Bessy (Grace Lynn Kung), gets into a bike accident and becomes comatose, Paul asks Sabi to stay on. Initially, the timing seems opportune: Sabi’s best friend 7ven (a delightful Amanda Cordner) is moving to Berlin and asks Sabi to join her for an adventure in queer self-actualization. He offers to help them find another family because of how difficult it might be, he says, “for someone like you.” He tries to amend the comment and Sabi cuts him off. Sabi works two jobs, as a bartender and a nanny to two half-Asian, half-white kids (very Toronto) in the pilot, the family they work for - well, really, the man of the house, Paul (Gray Powell, looking like a frowny Duplass brother) - has decided to let Sabi go. So they might stonewall or deadpan: totally. They’re perceptive and droll, someone who knows their body can elicit a response - some form of confusion as cis-normie people attempt to mentally slot them into a preexisting taxonomy. Sabi uses they/them pronouns they have choppy bangs and long curls and a penchant for bangles, crop tops, and shiny things. Sabi, the gender-fluid protagonist conceived and played by Bilal Baig in CBC and HBO Max’s Sort Of, gives a great whatever. Maybe a cocked brow or an “uh-huh.” It’s, like, whatever. When I go about my day and a casually ignorant comment comes my way - something we used to call “microaggressions” - I usually give very little. |
